AIKEN, SC – JAMES BERNARD "Po Boy" PADGETT, 78, beloved husband of Gin McCarthy Padgett, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Augusta, GA, Mr. Padgett was a son of the late Harmon Perry and Bertha Seats Padgett, and had lived most of his life in Aiken County He was a retired pipe fitter and was a member of Local 150 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters in Augusta. He was a member of Lake Park Baptist Church in Augusta and loved fishing, gardening and bird watching. Survivors, in addition to his wife Gin, include three daughters; Susan (Rick) Dunbar and Cindy (Russ) Johnston of Princeton, NJ, and Allyson McCarthy of Clarks Hill, SC, two sons; Eddie (Margie) Padgett of Trenton, SC and Mike (Debbie) McCarthy of Aiken, eight grandchildren, Christel Akers, North Augusta, Jerry (Judy) Roberts, and Terry Roberts of Brunswick, GA, Erik (Kelle) McCarthy, Lexington, SC, Chris (Robin) McCarthy and Rees McCarthy of Aiken and Kelly Baxter and Robbie Baxter of Princeton, NJ, and nine great-grandchildren, Dylan Akers, Katee, Janee, Lindsee and Jack McCarthy, Jacob and Jason McCarthy and Amanda, Megan and Hope Roberts. Funeral services will be held at Noon Thursday in the chapel of Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC, with Rev. Phillip Lee and Jerry Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Harlem Cemetery in Harlem, GA. Pallbearers will be Buddy Padgett, James Padgett, Buck Padgett, Terry Roberts, Jerry Roberts and Erik McCarthy. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Local 150 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until Noon Thursday at the funeral home.
