AIKEN, SC - WILLIE MELTON FULMER, JR., 61, beloved husband of Glenda Toole Fulmer, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers after a long illness.
Born in Aiken County on April 7, 1952, Mr. Fulmer was a son of the late Willie M., Sr., and Elizabeth Herron Fulmer. He grew up in Wagener and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. Willie served in the Army National Guard for 6 years and retired from the Savannah River Site where he worked as a lab technician for 38 years. He was a member of New Life Church of Nazarene. Willie loved traveling and NASCAR and enjoyed racing at the Jackson Drag Strip.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Glenda; a daughter, Joyce "Missy" Lamer, Aiken; two sons, James Matthew Fulmer, Wagener, Terry Melton Fulmer (Tonya), Aiken; 10 grandchildren, Amber Fulmer, Shane Fulmer, Tia Fulmer, Jessica Lamer, Brittany Lamer, Hunter Lamer, Mikey Fulmer, Halie Fulmer, Justin Vincent, Morgan Vincent; 5 great-grandchildren, Kolton Agnew, Avery Lamer, Kassidy Lamer, Kaitlynn Sikes, Addie Sikes; 4 brothers, Donnie Fulmer (Wendy), Wagener, Charles Fulmer (Cindy), Wagener, Michael Fulmer, Wagener, Roy Fulmer (Margie), Pelion; 2 sisters, Lisa Glover, Wagener and Laura Carver, Wagener.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, September 18th at 11 o'clock at the funeral home. The Rev. Tom Harvey will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Simmons, Raymond Heath, Edward Lyle, Larry Hair, Kenny McKinney, Westley Guyton, R. J. Rider and Justin Vincent.
