Sergei Smith

AIKEN , SC- MR. SERGEI SMITH, 76, of Aiken , SC , died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Smith was a native of Lopez , Pennsylvania , having made Aiken his home since 1999. He was the son of the late Samuel and Thressa Mattichek Smith. He attended Syracuse University where he majored in Engineering and Management. Mr. Smith proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Air National Guard and was actively deployed to Europe where he assisted with the construction of the Berlin Wall. Mr. Smith worked for the Carrier Corporation for over thirty years and later worked at Sears Roebuck & Co. An active volunteer for the Blind Bowlers for many years, Mr. Smith was a former officer on the Syracuse Bowling Association. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Beyer Smith, a step-daughter, Michelle Roes; two grandchildren, Sarah and Haley Argersinger, all of West Monroe, NY, a sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Gerald Todd, Vero Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.
