Marjorie Bowers Allen

AIKEN, SC – MARJORIE BOWERS ALLEN, 84, beloved wife of James R. “Jim” Allen, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Duncannon, PA, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Martha Detz Gehr Bowers. She and her husband moved to Aiken 8 years ago from Connecticut. Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and was an avid golfer, bowler and bridge player, and although she loved being active, she enjoyed her quiet moments as well. She loved animals, particularly miniature schnauzers. Marjories health did not permit her to play golf at Cedar Creek, but she was a member of the Farms Country Club in Wallingford, CT., and enjoyed many rounds of golf with good friends. Survivors, in addition to Jim, her beloved husband of 63 years, includes two daughters, Nancy Elizabeth Harris and her husband John of Loma, Colorado, Catherine A Share and her partner Cindy Atkinson of South Portland, ME, two sons, Richard B. Allen and his wife Marie of Charleston, SC and Donald B. Allen and his wife Cheryl of Charleston, SC, thirteen grandchildren, Joel Harris and his wife Kate, Leah Harris, Sylvia Harris, Benjamin Harris, Alison Share, Jeanne Share, Jennifer Allen, Brian Allen, David Allen, Margaret Allen, Kathleen Burrows, Charlie Burrows and Maya Atkinson, a great-granddaughter, Addison Claire Harris and a sister, Beatrice Marie Shriener of Hollywood, FL.
