Carolyn Brown Mayberry

AIKEN, SC – CAROLYN GOODWIN BROWN MAYBERRY, 77, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died on Monday the 21st of October 2013 at Pepper Hill Rehab & Nursing Center. A native and lifelong resident of Aiken, Carolyn was a daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Mae Seigler Goodwin. She was first married to the late Austin L. Brown, Jr. and then to the late Howard A. Mayberry. Carolyn was a retired secretary in the purchasing department of the Aiken County School District and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Stephen (Cathie) Brown, Aiken and Stanley Brown, Aiken; a daughter, Teresa (James “Red”) Roberts, Aiken; two step-sons, Allen Mayberry, Warrenville, David (Sue) Mayberry, NC; four grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Addison Brown, Whitney Roberts and Tyler Roberts; six great-grandchildren, Katie Brown, Austin Brown, Christopher, Anna Brown, Madison Cooney and Skyler Patterson; three sisters, Marjorie Eubanks, Geneva Thompson, and Emily Eubanks, all of Aiken; two brothers, Iradell Goodwin and Haskell Goodwin, both of Aiken. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Carolyn was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Goodwin. The family will receive friends from six until eight o’clock in the evening on Wednesday the 23rd of October at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday at the funeral home with The Revs. Carl Hayes and Jerry Brunson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, GA. Pallbearers will be Gary Goodwin, Haskell Goodwin, Jr., Tim Smith, Mark Gibson and Mike Cornwell.
