AIKEN, SC- Harold James Krohn, 79, beloved husband of Bette Lynn Krohn, died Thursday, October 24, 2013. Mr. Krohn was a native of Port Huron, Michigan, most recently making Aiken, SC and Blairsville, Georgia his home. Mr. Krohn proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. Prior to moving to Aiken, the Krohn's lived in California and in Grant, Florida. Harold enjoyed playing golf, tennis, boating, and traveling the world. One of his greatest passions was restoring antique cars, motorcycles and tractors. Professional, he was a general manager in the computer engineering industry and after retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively by RV. He attended the United Methodist Church. He will be remembered as a close friend, devoted family man, husband and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bette Lynn Krohn; a daughter and son-in-law, Cherly Lynn Shafer (Greg), Ellicott City, MD; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin James Krohn (Rachel), Huntington Beach, CA; three grandchildren, Rick Shafer, Boulder, CO, Tara Shafer, Ellicott City, MD, and Konnor Krohn, Huntingon Beach, CA; and one sister, Virginia Wilson, MI. Mr. Krohn was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Florence Brown Krohn and two brothers. A private celebration of life service will be held at the family mountain home in Blairsville, Georgia.
