AIKEN – Mr. Woody Dean Alexander, 74, died Thursday, October 31, 2013.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Aiken Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jeff Erbskorn and the Rev. Gregory Wilson officiating.
Mr. Alexander was born in Remlap, AL to Samuel Dean Alexander and the late Effie Wood Alexander. He worked as an engineer in the aviation industry for the first twenty years of his professional life, and for the last 18 years as a Quality Auditor for ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc. He continued to work even after retiring because he enjoyed his job and the people he met so much. After moving to Aiken in 1976, Mr. Alexander went to work for Therm-O-Disc as their Quality Assurance Manager. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his father, Samuel Dean Alexander, Manchester, TN; three daughters, Dawn (Greg) Hightower, Aiken, Denik (Joe) Adamson, Douglasville, GA, Ginger (Andy) Green, Greenville, SC; two sons, Dean Alexander, Jr., Bishopville, SC, Clayton Etherredge, Ontario, California; grandchildren, Alex Hightower, Cullen Hightower, James (Nicole) McMakin, Josephine Adamson, Andrew Green, Ashley Etherredge, Kala Etherredge; great grandchildren, Ryan, Hayden and Isabella McMakin; and a sister, Charlotte (Charles) Robinson, Manchester, TN.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his second wife, Sarah Dyches Alexander and his first wife, Sandra Houde Alexander.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be directed to the Savannah River Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 3694, Aiken, SC 29802.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 4-6 PM at SHELLHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 924 HAYNE AVE., AIKEN, SC.
