AIKEN – Mrs. Mary Dean A. Williamson, 93, a lifelong resident of Aiken, died on November 16, 2013. She was born in Augusta, GA April 10, 1920
She was the eldest child of David Alexander and Myrtie Bryan Alexander of Aiken. She is survived by 3 children; Stan Jr., (Emma Joyce) of Aiken, Mary W. Macmillan (Michael) of Mililani, Hawaii and David (Linda) of North Augusta; a sister, Mayrant Lojewski (Joseph) of Aiken, a brother, William R. Alexander (Amelia) of Anderson; a brother-in-law, Carroll (Betty) Williamson; six grandchildren, Julie (John) Jordan, Rip (Genee) Duncan, Sarah (Jarrett) Holliday, Laura (Shannon) Simmons, Holly (Dan) Holloway, Tracy (Brent) Steed and seventeen great-grandchildren. Her husband, Stanley Aaron Williamson, Sr., died in 1998. They had been married 56 years at the time of his death. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
She had a long career in the county auditor’s office and retired from there in 1988.
During her career and after retirement, she was active in First Presbyterian Church, of which she had been a member since the 1930s. She held offices of session member, trustee, Stephen lay minister, Sunday School teacher, and often joked that she had held every office in that church except minister. One of her proudest accomplishments was her part in the establishment of First Presbyterian’s Memorial Garden.
Funeral services will be held on November 19, 2013 at 3:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. John Wall and the Rev. Holly Shoaf-O’Kula officiating. The family will receive visitors following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Inurnment will be at the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium.
