James "Jim" Mayenschein

AIKEN, SC – JAMES C. MAYENSCHEIN, 74, beloved husband of Anne D. Mayenschein, died Friday the 22nd of November 2013 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in Charleston, WV, Jim was a son of the late Edwin C and Sally Anderson Mayenschein. He grew up in Aiken and graduated from Aiken High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from United Parcel Service in Atlanta after 30 years. Jim was an avid reader and Georgia football fan. He enjoyed playing the stock market, and loved old movies and history. Jim had a great love for music, especially bluegrass and loved eating at Waffle House. After his retirement, he and Anne moved back to Aiken in 2008. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Anne; brother, Robert W. Mayenschein, Lawrenceville, GA; children, Elizabeth Duffy, Mt. Pleasant, SC and Will Parrott (Amy), Aiken; four grandchildren, James E. Duffy III, Brittany Ann Duffy, William G Parrott V and Elaina Murphy Parrott; three nephews and a niece. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, John D. “Jack” Mayenschein. Graveside services will be held Wednesday the 27th of November at 11:00 AM in Bethany Cemetery with The Rev. Grant Weisman officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Spooky Weeks, Joseph Spencer, John Epps, Pat Walke, John Samples, Butch Emrich and Billy Howard.
