Peter A Hoffman, 74, of 210 Date Palm Circle, Aiken, SC, passed away unexpectedly at his home November 26, 2013.
Peter was born August 13, 1939 in Luxemburg,WI to Adolph and Claudia(Arendt) Hoffman. He graduated from Luxemburg High School in 1957, and served in the US Army Reserves. He married the former Pamela (Masarik) Meinnert in 1986. Peter worked for Procter and Gamble, retiring in 1994. He and Pam relocated to Aiken, South Carolina in 1996.
Pete's passion was horse training. He was a member of quarter horse and standardbred associations for many years. Most recently he was involved in carriage driving and was a member of the Aiken Driving Club.
He is survived by his wife, Pam, of Aiken, SC, three sons, Wayne, Tim and Peter, Jr., stepchildren, Andrew(Stacey) Meinnert, of incline Village, NV,Rebecca Meinnert (Gavin Winship), Aiken, SC, 3 granddaughters, Lola, Lily, and Stella Meinnert, with whom he shared a special bond. He is further survived by a brother, David (Linda) Hoffman , sister, Marlene(Joe) Ropson, all of Luxemburg, WI, special cousin, Marie DesJardin, Casco, WI, sister-in-law, Wendy Butler, LaCrosse, WI, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.
Pete will be remembered for his kindness and generosity to all.
Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home assisted the family in arrangements.
Friends and relatives are invited to a Celebration of Pete's life Wednesday, January 29, at the Houndslake Guesthouse, from 5-7pm.
Memorial donations may be directed to Aiken SPCA, Friends of the Animal Shelter, or Hitchcock Woods Foundation.
