AIKEN – Mrs. Helen Gannon Gingrey, 95, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with the Reverend Gregory Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Graniteville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Murphy, Billy Murphy, Charles Murphy, Bill Murphy, John Murphy and Ron Stevens. Mrs. Gingrey was born in New York, NY, a daughter of the late John Patrick and Ellen Mary Heron Gannon. She has been a resident of Aiken County most of her adult life, and was a member of the Pink Lady Auxiliary at Aiken Regional Medical Center. She was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and often attended Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Survivors include her three sons, Bill (Gail) Gingrey, Aiken, James F. Gingrey, Jr., Atlanta, GA, Congressman Phil (Billie) Gingrey, MD, Marietta, GA; six grandchildren, Doug Gingrey, Alison Gingrey Sheppard, Billy Gingrey, Gannon Manning, Phyllis Collins and Laura Niel Shuessler; 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Gingrey.
