William R. Myers

AIKEN - Mr. William "Bill" R. Myers, 66, died Thursday, January 16, 2014. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with Father Gregory Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at 9:00 AM Saturday in Smith Hall, adjacent to the church Bill was born in Mt. Vernon, OH, a son of the late John Myers and Mary Jane Vail Myers. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and attended Franklin University, in Columbus, Ohio. He was a heavy equipment operator when he retired from Three Rivers Waste Management. Bill became a Catholic late in life and it became his passion. He joined Our Lady of the Valley and grew to love Father Clark and his parish. Last year he began attending St. Marys and dearly loved Father Wilson and that parish, as well. Bill had a beautiful tenor voice. He enjoyed being a cantor at both churches and loved the choirs. Bill is survived by two sisters, Jody Forman Fall and spouse Jerry Fall, of Hamilton, Ohio; Carol Ward and spouse Alan Ward, of Philadelphia, Mississippi; two brothers, Allen Myers and spouse Ruth of Mount Vernon, Ohio and Michael Myers and spouse Sherrie, of Fredericktown, Ohio. He is also survived by two nieces Angela Myers and Taylor Ward and a nephew, Jay Myers. Bill was preceded in death by nephew, Rob Forman. He is also survived by his devoted friend, Peggy Hammons, who the family is most grateful to, for her assistance with Bill, these last couple of months. The family would also like to thank the staff of UniHealth, Carolina Cancer Center, Aiken Regional Medical Center, and doctors Anderson, Gill, Ezekial, Hashmi and Myer for their care during his illness.
