Iris Jean Long

AIKEN, SC – IRIS JEAN LONG, 83, beloved wife of William G. “Bill” Long, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at her residence, surrounded by her family. A native of Rock Hill, SC, Mrs. Long was a daughter of the late William Jackson Yazel and Loretta Hunter Yazel. She lived in Aiken since 1953 and retired from Rose’s Department Store. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and the Naomi Sunday School Class. Mrs. Long taught Sunday School for 49 years. Survivors, in addition to her husband of 63 years, Bill, include three children, Janice (Randy) Berryhill, Mooresville, NC, Barry (Jane) Long, Charlotte, NC, Sherrie (Billy) Harville, Statesboro, GA; 7 grandchildren, Chad (Heather) McGahee, Ashley McGahee, Kirbi (Aaron) Ratner, Joanna Long, Benjamin Long, Taylor Berryhill, Lauren Berryhill; 4 great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Jaden and Zane McGahee, Kinley Ratner; a brother, Fred (Bonnie) Yazel, Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church with The Rev. Taylor Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Naomi Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church, beginning at 12:30 PM.
