Everett T. Summerall, Jr.

AIKEN, SC – EVERETT T. SUMMERALL, Jr., 73, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA. A native and lifelong resident of Aiken, Everett was a son of the late Everett T., Sr. and Catherine Wyman Summerall. He was a graduate of The University of South Carolina with a Masters in Music. Everett was long-time music teacher with the Aiken County School District and spent a number of years at Schofield Middle School before his retirement. He served as organist and choir director at St. Paul’s Church Augusta, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Aiken, organist at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, Augusta, interim organist at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Aiken and was currently organist and music director at All Saint’s Episcopal Church, Beech Island. Everett was a member of the St. Andrews Society, Association of Anglican Musicians and the American Guild of Organists. Survivors include his partner of 40 years, Don Dupee, Jr.; 2 nephews, Lee Summerall (Rachel), Georgetown, TN, Cory Summerall (Stacey), Columbia, SC; a niece, Kristie Summerall Freeland, Columbia, SC and a number of cousins in the Wyman and Summerall families. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 23, 2014 in Millbrook Baptist Church Cemetery with The Rev. Louis Scales officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Stevensen-McClelland Building at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.
