AIKEN, S.C. – Florence Christina Burghard, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed in the peace of her home on Saturday, February 8 after putting up a heroic struggle with a long illness.
Christina, as she liked to be known, grew up in Bergenfield, New Jersey and worked for over thirty years in school textbook publishing before moving in 2006 to the greener (and warmer) pastures of Aiken with her loving husband, Norm Viksna. Her sparkling personality lit up a room and she was able to quickly turn strangers into friends. She loved her dogs, gardening, and supporting the local economy in the shops on Laurens Street.
Christina is survived by her husband; sister Judy Roth of Savannah, Georgia; sons Lawrence Campagna of Mahwah, New Jersey and Michael Campagna of Airmont, New York; and granddaughters Rylie Campagna and Danielle Campagna. Christina’s family wishes to thank all her friends for the support, caring, and love they gave her during her difficult time.
The funeral will be private for the family.
