Clara Elaine Sawyer Scott

AIKEN- Clara Elaine Sawyer Scott, 71, of Aiken, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008 at Carriage Hills Living Center. Born in Monetta, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late George W. Sawyer and the late Ruby Nichols Sawyer. She was the office manager of S&S Farm Supply in Ridge Spring, SC, for 30 years. Elaine was also involved with her family in their other farming operations, Montmorenci Vineyards and Terra-Dyne, Inc. in Aiken. She was a Registered Nurse and a member of the First Baptist Church of Aiken. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. “Bob” Scott, of Aiken; a daughter, Jeanne Spaunburgh (David) of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; two sons, Robert “Bobby” Scott, Jr. (Stepheni) of Aiken, Eddie Scott of Barnwell, SC; two sisters, Evelyn Gasser of Spartanburg, SC, Ruth Jordan (Bill) of Walhalla, SC; two brothers, George Sawyer, Jr. (Evelyn) of Saluda, SC, Tom Sawyer (Debbie) of Monetta, SC; five grandchildren, Keeley Scott, Matthew Spaunburgh, Robyn Scott, Lauren Spaunburgh, and Nicholas Spaunburgh. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Cathy Cole officiating. Interment will be private. Pallbearers will be Ben Sawyer, Philip Jordan, William Gieser, Dr. Jay Chapin, Richard Miller and Jean Wise. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Jordan, David Jordan, Dennis Ely, Richard O’Malley, John Gieser, Dick Spaunburgh, and Jack Campbell.
