John Russell Treadwell

AIKEN, SC – JOHN RUSSELL TREADWELL, LT. COL, US ARMY, RET., 89, husband of the late Constance A. Treadwell, died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Salem, MA, Mr. Treadwell was a son of the late James Robinson and Helen Liebsch Treadwell. He was a graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point and earned his Master’s degree from Princeton University. He taught Social Sciences at the U.S. Military Academy and at the Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, KS. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Treadwell was vice president of human resources for United Brands in New York City. He moved to Aiken in 1988 from Rye, NY. Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Ann Blackwell, England, Debra Ann Treadwell, Rye, NY; three grandchildren, James Blackwell, Suzanne Blackwell, Finnian Treadwell; two great-grandchildren, Alice Blackwell, Willow Blackwell; a brother, James R. Treadwell, Salem, MA. Mr. Treadwell will be entombed next to his wife in the columbarium at West Point.
