December 25, 1933 — February 28, 2014

AIKEN, SC- MARY COURTNEY DAVIS, 80, beloved wife of Thomas Frederick Davis, died Friday, February 28, 2014. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 11 AM in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Doctor Ron Hasty officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Fogle, Mike Butcher, Blaine Bronson, Neal Cormany, Nick Novello, David Martinez, Kyle Bronson, and Tyler Thomas. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Davis was a native of Wagener, SC, having made Aiken her life-long home. Mrs. Davis was a member of Levels Baptist Church and loved being a beautician, working at her salon, Mary's Beauty Shop, for over twenty-five years. Many of her clients said that Mary's shop was just like the shop that was depicted in the movie "Steel Magnolias." Mary loved the sun, watermelons, boiled peanuts, and her garden. She was a true "girly girl," was pretty in pink and loved nail polish, lipstick, and shopping at Macy's. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her husband, Thomas Frederick Davis, she is survived by two daughters, Betsy (Neal) Cormany, Mt. Pleasant, SC and Tammy (Blaine) Bronson, LaGrange, TX; five grandchildren, Courtney Novello, Tyler Thomas, Melissa Butcher, Kyle Bronson, and Macey Bronson; three great-grandchildren, Rylynne Bronson, Gianna Novello, and Raegan Bronson; a brother, William (Mary) Courtney, North, SC; and her beloved cat, Sweet Pea, and her dog, Daisy. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, Felder and Bessie Collins Courtney; a daughter, Donna Davis Thomas; and two sisters, Evelyn Gleaton and Ollie Mae Woodward.
