Sabri Hankinson Smith

AIKEN, SC – SABRI HANKINSON SMITH, 92, died Friday, March 14th, 2014 at her residence. A life-long resident of Aiken, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Mayhew Hankinson, Sr. and Blanche H. Hankinson. She was a 1939 Honor Graduate of Aiken High School. Prior to her retirement, she was the office manager of the Aiken Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 28 years.Mrs. Smith was a long-time member of Aiken's First Baptist Church, the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class, the Senior Choir, and the Round Table Mission Group. She had been an active member of the Business and Professional Womens' Club of Aiken, and was the only surviving member of the Old Aiken Bridge Club. She is survived by daughter, Sabri Ann Dodenhoff Buchanan, Aiken; granddaughters Gail Buchanan (Calvin) Clamp, Aiken; Cindy Buchanan (Adam) Orris, Aiken; and three great-grandchildren whom she adored, Cameron McCloud Clamp, Katelyn Elizabeth Hankinson Clamp, and Brandon Donald Orris, all of Aiken. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Irvin Smith, her parents, and her brother, Mayhew Hankinson, Jr. The family extends a special thank you to her kind and loving caregivers, Julie Harris, Carol Brantley Marchant, Emily Wheeler, Kenya Bush, and Pam Jones, as well as to the staff of Regency Hospice for their love and support during her final days. Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 18th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Millbrook Baptist Church on East Pine Log Road. The Reverend Doctor Fred W. Andrea III is to officiate. Interment will follow in the Millbrook Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Mrs. Smith loved deeply and taught her children to do the same. Her legacy of love, laughter, and unconditional support will live on.
