AIKEN, SC- BARBARA INEZ FREEMAN COGBURN, 75, beloved wife of the late Franklin Lucan Cogburn, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at University Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, March 23, 2013 at 2 PM in Historic Bethany Cemetery. The Reverend W. H. Bryant officiating. Friends may call at Shellhouse Funeral Home, Hayne Ave., from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to the service on Sunday. Mrs. Cogburn was a native of Madison County, NC, having made Aiken her home for the last thirty years. She retired as a technician, loved the outdoors, and was of the Baptist faith. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Survivors include a daughter, Vonalee Ellen (Gary) Pace, Jackson, SC; a son, Rallie (Becky) Cogburn, Gray GA; four grandchildren, Michael Pace, Devin Pace, Ryan (Brittany) Pace, Matthew Cogburn; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Pace, Vonalee Hall, Adelyn Pace, Kayden Pace; six sisters, Mildred Solesbee, Marshall, NC, Dixie Freeman, Edna Freeman, Ramona Fox, all of Mars Hill, NC, Brenda Drake, Arden, NC, and Lucretia Griffin, Spartanburg, SC; and two brothers, David Freeman , Mars Hill, NC and John Freeman, Ashville, NC. In addition to her husband, Franklin Lucan Cogburn, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ansel and Vonalee McDaris Freeman, and a sister, Carolyn Wright.
