Aiken- Sarah Snead Perkins entered into rest Monday, March 24th, 2014 at the age of 86. She was born April 7th, 1927 in Talcott, West Virginia. She has called Aiken home since 1951 when she moved here with her husband, Okey, who is previously deceased. She is survived by four boys, E. Nick Perkins (Sungae) Savannah, Ga, Rick P. Perkins (Cendy) Waverly, Ga, Cam S. Perkins (Hope) Douglas, Ga, and Tim L. Perkins(Mary Mark) Aiken, 12 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. She retired from Southeastern Clay Company. Sarah devoted the first half of her life to taking care of her family. She spent many years at the ball fields watching her children play sports. She was an accomplished seamstress and an excellent cook and baker. The second half of her life she devoted to her church, St. John's United Methodist, where she was a member for 30 plus years. It was here that Sarah found a new family for which she was forever grateful. She was a member and past president of the Fellowship Sunday School class, a longtime member of Circle 7, chair of the Lenten luncheons and Sunny Monday luncheons, member of the St. John's quilters among many other activities. She was the kitchen manager for many years and cofounded the Wednesday Night dinners for which she earned the title of 'Kitchen Angel'. Sarah loved her family and friends and serving the Lord through the Church. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. A memorial service and reception will be held Saturday, March 29th, 2014 at 11:00am at St. John's United Methodist Church.
