Anna K Brown

AIKEN – Anna Knisley Brown, 81, went to be with the Lord, family and friends in Heaven, Friday, April 04, 2014 at her residence. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Clint Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in historic Bethany Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Trey Brown, Travis Brown, Chad Kimbrell, Jesse Dupree, Ben Kennerly and Justin Swanson. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown was born in Milwaukee, WI, on December 12, 1932 and graduated in 1950 from Norview High School in Norfolk, VA.  She graduated from King’s Daughter Hospital School of Nursing.  Anna had been a resident of Aiken since 1953, and was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church.  She spent her career working as a nurse for several hospitals in the CSRA.  Anna was also a member of Meals on Wheels, Rainbow Club, Aiken Bowling League and volunteered at local nursing homes.  Anna loved watching her grandchildren playing sports.  She also loved to fish, camp and visit her in-laws home in the Smokey Mountains. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Ann (Ben) Kennerly, Amelia Island, FL, Joni Lynn Brown, Aiken; two sons, Andy (Theresa) Brown, Jr., Aiken, Tracy (Vickie) Brown, Aiken; grandchildren, Leah Gosline, Trey Brown, Anna Brown, Travis Brown, Katie Brown, Nichole Brown, Jesse Dupree; great grandchildren, Olivia Montes, Sayla Kennerly and Roxanna Novotasky; sister, Cleon Vandermarliere, Royal Oaks, MI and her dogs, Sandy, Jack and Taffy. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Andy Brown; parents, Benjamin Knisley and Vila Rose Allen Strawhecker and her stepfather Lester O. Strawhecker, Sr. The family would like to express their gratitude towards Beth Taylor for her care and compassion over the last year for Nana.
