Dayton, OH – Mildred "Micki" Deason Golden, 89, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
The family will receive friends at Shellhouse Funeral Home's Hayne Ave. location on Monday, April 21 from 9 to 11 am. A private service celebrating her life will begin at 11 am, followed by private burial at Aiken Memorial Gardens on Hwy. 19.
Micki was the 12th of 13 children born in Clanton, AL to the late James Benjamin and Charity Mize Deason. She married James Earl Golden of Prattville, AL in 1946, and they moved to Aiken, SC in 1952, where she resided for 33 years. She was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal church in Aiken. She worked as a nurse at Aiken County Hospital and later as an office nurse for a pediatric physician. She loved working with children, baking cakes, gardening, her dogs, and observing nature. In 1985 she moved to Dayton, OH for what she called the best job she ever had: being a grandmother and nanny for her only grandchild, Lisa (Heitmann).
She is survived by her two daughters, Norma Atherton of Houston, TX, and Kaye (John) Heitmann of Dayton, OH; one grandchild, Lisa (Anthony) Ryno of Escondido, CA; and a brother, Harold L. Deason of San Antonio, TX.
Micki was predeceased by her husband, James Earl Golden in 1974, and she never remarried.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mildred’s name may be directed to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
