Eula Lee Johnson Groomes

AIKEN – Mrs. Eula Lee Johnson Groomes, 80, died Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Pepper Hill Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Lighthouse Baptist Church. The Reverend Marion Britton will officiate. Interment will follow in Vaucluse Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ted Groomes, Greg Groomes, Jamie Groomes, Ernie Groomes, Rodney McDonalds, Paul Jury. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class. Mrs. Groomes, a daughter of the late Paul and Raney Lowe Johnson, was a lifelong resident of Aiken. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include her sons, Edward Groomes, Aiken, W.T. “Red” Groomes, Aiken, Ernest (Jean) Groomes, Batesburg, Jimmy (Bobby) Groomes, Aiken, Marvin (Faye) Groomes, Aiken; eight grandchildren, Penny McDonalds, Ted Groomes, Greg Groomes, Ernie Groomes, Jamie Groomes, Dee Anne Williams, Missy Jury, Justice Groomes; eighteen great grandchildren; a step grandchild, Hattie Thomas; very close friend, Helen Crumback. In addition to her parents, her husband, Clyde Groomes, and two grandsons, Clyde and Mark Groomes, preceded her in death.
