AIKEN, SC – LIDE DILL STEADMAN, 69, beloved husband of Glenda Arnold Steadman, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, Mr. Steadman was a son of the late Sidney L., and Sarah Inez Powell Steadman, Sr.. He served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his military service he returned to Aiken and retired after 33 years, as a security officer with Owens Corning Fiberglass. Mr. Steadman was a member of Redds Branch Baptist Church, the Aiken Masonic Lodge # 126, where he served as Master in 2000. He enjoyed leather working, drawing, working in his yard and his dog Goldie.
Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife, include two daughters, Lindy Steadman and Leanna Steadman, both of Aiken, four sisters, Verdeen Chapman , Aiken, Evelyn Marie McCracken, Augusta, GA, Sarah Aldridge, Swansea, SC and Brenda Stribling, Savannah, GA, and a brother, Sidney Lee Steadman, Jr., Aiken.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Redds Branch Baptist Church with The Rev.’s Eddie Penland and Gary Hanna officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Harley, David Harley, Larry Harley, Daniel Fallaw, Tommy Myer and Kenny Adams. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Aiken Masonic Lodge #126.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
