James "Jimmy" L. Kitchings

April 27, 1956 — May 7, 2014

AIKEN, SC – JAMES LANIER “JIMMY” KITCHINGS, 58, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at GRU Medical Center, Augusta, GA. A native of Aiken County, Jimmy was a son of the late Woodrow and Mildred Burnette Kitchings. He was a carpenter. Jimmy was always keen at remembering dates, especially birth dates of family and friends. He was an excellent carpenter and loved drawing out a plan and the building process. He enjoyed drawing pictures of houses and enjoyed watching old cowboy movies. Jimmy made crosses from pieces of wood he found while on walks to give to his loved ones. Survivors include a daughter, Brandy (German) Marrero, North Pole, Alaska; a son, Joseph O'Neal “Joey” Kitchings, Barnwell, SC; three brothers, Wiley (Kat) Kitchings, Augusta, Wallace (LeFaye) Kitchings, Aiken and Johnny (Monty) Kitchings, Graniteville.  In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilson and Frank Kitchings. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the funeral home with The Rev. Marion Britton officiating. Interment will follow in Darien Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Kitchings, Gabriel Kitchings, Josh Pniewski, Donnie Moulton, Doug Goodman and Berma Eubanks.
