AIKEN, SC – JAMES EDWARD DERRICK, 69, beloved husband of Beatrice Poole Derrick, died suddenly Friday, August 8, 2008 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Gilbert, SC, Mr. Derrick was a son of the late Clifford and Tranie Bisinger Derrick. He was a veteran of the US Navy and had lived in Aiken since 1963. Mr. Derrick retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass after 35 years. He was a member of Christian Heritage Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Beatrice, include a daughter, Darlene (Roy) Foster, Aiken, a granddaughter, Brandy (Matt) Smalley, Aiken, a brother, John Derrick, Savannah, GA and three sisters, Janie Lee, Lexington, Louise Keesler and Barbara Cockrell, both of Gilbert.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville with Rev. Stephen Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow in the Aiken Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be James Seigler, Paul Joye, Calvin Odum, George Pearson, Jimmy Rhoads and Truman Page.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
