AIKEN – Mrs. Annie Calvert Gossett, 76, died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel, Hayne Ave. Reverend Jim Kirk will officiate. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Rhett and Chase Gossett, and Deacons of Memorial Baptist Church. Jason Michael Gossett will be the Honorary Pallbearer.
Mrs. Gossett was born in Clifton, SC, a daughter of the late Luther Graham Calvert and Anna Belle Childress Calvert Whitt, and stepdaughter of the late Franklin Vard Whitt. She graduated Valedictorian from Cowpens High and eventually went on to USCA, receiving her R.N. Degree in the school’s first nursing class in 1973. She was a nurse in the old Aiken Hospital location and in the current location, and helped head up the Staff Development Department prior to her employment as an instructor at the Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church since 1954.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Grover Gossett, Jr.; sons, Col. Grover Michael (Cynthia) Gossett, Fredericksburg, VA; Dr. Stephen E. Gossett, Greenville, SC, Robert G. (Sheri) Gossett, Graniteville; seven grandchildren, Jason Michael, Lauren Michelle, Rhett, Logan, Savannah, Chase and Lea Ann Gossett; daughter in law, Sandra Gossett.
In addition to her parents, a son, Phillip O. Gossett, preceded her in death.
