AIKEN- Mr. John Clayton Garrison, 89, beloved husband of Mildred Hill Garrison, died Wednesday July 30, 2008 at the Veterans Hospital in Augusta, GA. Mr. Garrison was born in Rhea County, TN, to the late Arthur and Bessie Jeano Garrison. He served in the United States Navy, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 128 in Aberdeen, MD. He was a faithful member of Darien Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Mildred Hill Garrison, five sons John H. Garrison of Wagener, SC, Ernest E. Garrison of Aiken, SC, Jack B. Garrison of Wagener, SC, Billy E. (Wanda) Garrison of Harve-DeGrace, MD, and James D. Garrison of Bedford, VA, five grandchildren Julia Garrison, Cheryl Wright Garrison, Daniel Vaughn, Krysten Garrison, James C. Garrison, and Rachel Garrison, and ten great-grandchildren Zack, Dusty, Taylor, Matthew, Connor, Kayla, Kenny, Jordan, Katelynn, and Tanner, and his brother Claude Garrison of Spring City, TN. Memorials may be made to Darien Baptist Church, 1362 Hatchaway Bridge Rd., Aiken, SC 29801. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Darien Baptist Church with Reverend Keith Ussery and Reverend Bob Rish officiating. Interment will follow in Darien Baptist Church Cemetery.
