AIKEN, SC- SARAH CUNNINGHAM BURKHART, 86, beloved wife of the late Thomas H. Burkhart, died Wednesday, July 02, 2014 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Brighton, TN, she was the daughter of the late James P. Cunningham and Lula McDaniel Cunningham. She was a resident of Aiken for the past 62 years and a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church where she faithfully attended perpetual adoration every Thursday. She retired after twenty five years of service in Medical Records at the Savannah River Site.
Mrs. Burkhart is survived by two daughters, Patty (William) Bell, Aiken, SC and Teresa (Geoff) Clendenen, Aiken, SC; five sons, Joe (Meg) Burkhart, Kissimmee, FL, Ron (Lee) Burkhart, Aiken, SC, Richard (Sandra) Burkhart, Aiken, SC, Garry (Linda) Burkhart, Newport, TN, and Kenny (Cindy) Burkhart, Aiken, SC; a daughter-in-law, Roberta Burkhart, Martinez, GA; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Woll and Doris Johnson; and two brothers, James W. Cunningham and Norman Cunningham.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark Burkhart and two brothers, Sam and Ben Cunningham.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, July 7, 2014 at Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. The Father Arturo Dalupang celebrant. Final prayers and commendation in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Langley, SC. Pallbearers will be Gary Hoenshel, Jason Burkhart, Dane Burkhart, Aaron Burkhart, Thomas Burkhart, and Brendan Clendenen.
