Dalton, GA - On Monday, July 07, 2014, Henry W. Holley Jr. (Bill) age 77 of Dalton passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents Bertha and Henry Holley Sr. and sister Louise Martin McAfee.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Jeannette (Farrell) Holley, daughter Renee Holley Crawford of Fort Lauderdale, FL; adopted daughter Myrinda Blalock of Dalton, GA; daughter and son-in-law Jina Campbell and Greg Campbell of Dalton, GA; grandchildren Alexis Holley Crawford of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Lauren and Tiffany Campbell; mother-in-law Esther Farrell of Lexington, SC; sister and brother-in-law Sheila (Farrell) Werner and Walt Werner, as well as several nieces and nephews including Cherie C. Martin of Blairsville, GA; Holley Miles of Hilton Head, SC along with many great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Born in Aiken, South Carolina, Bill joined the Navy after graduating from Aiken High School in 1954, serving during the Korean War. After his duty was completed he attended Augusta College, and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1963. While attending UGA he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity .After graduation he moved his family to Dalton where he began his career with Georgia Power Company until his retirement in 1992. Upon retirement Bill continued to serve on the board of directors for Georgia Federal Credit Union in Rome, GA for over 35 years.
Bill was a member of Dalton First Baptist Church, the Civitan and Lions Clubs, American Legion, and the Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed fishing, playing tennis, and especially golf. Bill was a member of the Dalton Golf & Country Club.
The family would like to thank all the guys at Town Square Restaurant that brightened his day each morning and ask that they honor him by serving as pallbearers.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the First Baptist Church in Dalton, GA with the Rev. Larry Flanagan officiating. The family receiving friends in the Atrium of the Church Wednesday from 1 p.m. til the funeral at 3 p.m. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at historic Bethany Cemetery in Aiken, SC.
