MARTINEZ, GA – CLIFF BEARDEN, 50, died suddenly Thursday, July 24, 2014 aboard the Carnival Fantasy cruise ship as it was returning to Charleston, SC. Born at Elgin Air Force Base, FL, Cliff was a son of Jean Smith Bearden and the late Clarence Bearden. He grew up in Couchton, SC, attended Aiken High School and formerly worked for BellSouth in Augusta. He was of the Baptist faith and had lived in Martinez for 27 years. Survivors include his partner of 27 years, Mike Cruz; mother, Jean Smith Bearden, Abbeville, AL; sisters, Terri Jean (Guy) Morgan, Cottonwood, AL, Charlene (Ed) Kemper, Dothan, AL, Carrie (Troy) Murphy, Aiken, SC; brothers, Ronnie (Linda) Money, Edwin, AL, Clay Bearden, Portland, OR, Casey (Renee) Bearden, Sr., Crestview, FL; extended family, Charles Cruz, Guam, Annie Taijeron, Guam, Grace (Danny) Quinata, Guam, John (Helen) Cruz, Las Vegas, NV, Flora (Ignacio) Soriano, Las Vegas, NV, Rosa (Bill) Meno, Las Vegas, NV; a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Cliff was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Bearden. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. Friends may call at other times at the home of his sister Carrie, 499 Redds Branch Rd., Aiken, SC. The Funeral Service will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jacob Murphy, Eddie Kemper, Robert Pou, Robert Steel, Wayne Hankinson and Vince Hankinson.
