AIKEN, SC – KELLY HIRAM WOODWARD, 96, beloved husband of Pauline Rankin Woodward, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at his residence.
A native of and life-long resident of Aiken County, Kelly was a son of the late Louie and Lillie Scott Woodward. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He worked for Seaboard Coast Line Rail Road for 33 years, retiring as a yard conductor in 1981. He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and a former long-time member of Couchton Baptist Church. He loved gardening and farming.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Pauline, include a daughter, Joanne Woodward (Joel) Jones, Aiken; three grandchildren, Lauren (Jake) Morris, Aiken, Matthew (fianceé Dani Stephenson) Jones, Columbia, Brandon Jones, Clemson; a great-grandson, Luke Asher Morris; sister, Betty Jernigan, South Port, NC; sister-in-law, Sallie Mae Wise, Aiken. In addition to his parents, Mr. Woodward was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Denny, Lilly Mae Griner; a brother, L. W. Woodward.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 o’clock Thursday evening at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Scott Family Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be, Eugene Blackwell, Brent Chavous, Brad Chavous, George Wise, Jr., Larry Turner, Dave Golding.
