AIKEN, SC – JEAN FINLAYSON HUNT, 85, beloved wife of William R. Hunt, died Tuesday morning, August 12, 2014 at her residence.
A native of Greenwood, SC, Jean was a daughter of the late Paul Deems and Ethel Wilson Finlayson. She graduated from Greenwood High School and attended Lander College. Jean and William moved to Aiken in 1953. She was a secretary and retired from the Special Programs Department of Aiken County Public Schools. She was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church and attended the Pastor’s Class prior to joining the Lydia Sunday School Class.
Survivors, in addition to her husband William, include a daughter, Pam (Jimmy) Hamilton, Aiken; a son, William R. “Dickie” (Margaret) Hunt, Jr., Clarks Hill, SC; four grandchildren, Ricky (Julie) Hunt, Pooler, GA, Misty (David) Magness, Aiken, Jimmy (Angela) Hunt, Fort Walton Beach, FL, Alex (Kristin) Hamilton, Columbia; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Hunt; granddaughter, Ashley Hunt; three sisters, Alice Browder, Ethel Dent and Margie Smith.
The family will receive friends Friday beginning at noon at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home followed by her funeral at 1 o’clock with The Reverend Dr. Chris Masters officiating. Private interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery.
