William Hunt

October 17, 1926 — September 13, 2014

AIKEN, SC – WILLIAM RICHARD HUNT, 87, husband of the late Jean Finlayson Hunt, died Saturday morning, September 13, 2014 at his residence.      A native of Orangeburg County, SC, Mr. Hunt was a son of the late Robert Cleveland and Eulalee Metts Hunt. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He attended Clemson University. Mr. Hunt was a maintenance supervisor for E. I. DuPont at Savannah River Plant, retiring after 32 years. He was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church and was a member of Millbrook Whittlers, the Langford Sunday School Class and a former deacon.      Survivors include a daughter, Pam (Jimmy) Hamilton, Aiken; a son, William R. “Dickie” (Margaret) Hunt, Jr., Clarks Hill, SC; daughter-in-law, Maria Hunt, Edisto Beach, SC; a brother-in-law, Charlie Dent, Asheville, NC; five grandchildren, Ricky (Julie) Hunt, Pooler, GA, Misty (David) Magness, Aiken, Jimmy (Angela) Hunt, Fort Walton Beach, FL, Alex (Kristin) Hamilton, Columbia, Michael Harper, Aiken; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Hunt; granddaughter, Ashley Hunt.      The family will receive friends Tuesday morning beginning at 10 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home followed by his funeral at 11 o’clock with The Reverend Dr. Chris Masters officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Millbrook Whittlers, Millbrook Baptist Church, 223 South Aiken Blvd., SE, Aiken, SC 29803 or the Aiken Warrior Project, 4115 Columbia Road, Suite 5-333, Martinez, GA 30907.
