AIKEN, SC- CHARLES EDWARD HITCHENS, 90, beloved husband of the late Josephine Trum Hitchens, died Friday, September 26, 2014 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, SC.
Born in Ohio, Mr. Hitchens was a son of the late Charles and Mary Hugli Hitchens. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Hitchens retired as a carpenter and enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his son and a daughter-in-law, Dean and Debbie Hitchens, of Aiken, SC; three grandchildren, Billy Hitchens, Heather Hitchens and Daniel Gottleber; four great-grandchildren, Natria, Jordan, Ryan, and Kristen Detz; a sister, Naomi Vavrik; and a brother, Rick Hitchens. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hitchens was proceeded in death by a granddaughter, Jenny Detz and a great-grandson, Tyler Gottleber.
Services will be held privately in Ohio at a later date.
