AIKEN, SC - ELEANOR BURTON PEARSON, age 88 of Lexington, SC passed away peacefully Sunday, September 28, 2014 just two days shy of her 89th birthday.       Born September 30th, 1925 in Cambridge, NY she was the wife of the late Leo L Pearson, Jr. The daughter of an Episcopal minister, she moved with her family many times, but had settled in Birmingham, AL where she met and married her high school sweetheart. They were married December 27, 1944 in Savannah, GA just prior to the end of WWII. After the war they moved to Aiken, SC where they raised three sons and were an active part of the community. They loved Aiken and made it their home for 54 years. Eleanor and her husband were members of the Aiken Community Playhouse and were involved in many of its earliest productions. She was a volunteer at ACTS in Aiken from its founding. Eleanor was an avid tennis player and former member of Houndslake Country Club. She was a long time member of Saint Thaddeus Episcopal Church and later All Saints Anglican Church in Aiken. The last six years of life she lived independently at The Village of Southlake in Lexington to be closer to her family. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Joseph Burton and Ellen Woods Burton.       Survivors include three sons, Leo L. Pearson III (Lynn), West Columbia, SC, Ralph B. Pearson (Beth), Little Mountain, SC, David C. Pearson, West Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Aimee Heard (Jon), Winston Salem, NC, Jennifer Pearson (Jeff), Lexington, SC, Emily Morris (Keith), West Columbia, SC, Stephanie Pearson, Columbus, GA; seven great-grandchildren, Lawson and Brayden Morris, Pearson and Charlotte Heard, Nora Craver, Bryan and Katelyn Flynn; a special friend, Nelson Rodgers, West Columbia, SC. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ennis and a brother, Lewis Burton.       A Memorial Service will be held Monday morning, October 6, 2014 at 11 o’clock at All Saint’s Anglican Church with The Rev. George Alexander officiating. Inurnment will follow in the churchyard.
