AIKEN, SC - Graveside services for Anita Woodward Brunson were held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Aiken Memorial Gardens, with close family and friends present. She was born in Pooler, Georgia, to William Jonas and Minnie Lee Miller, and went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Mrs. Brunson was predeceased by both her first husband, Everett Woodward in 1976 and her second husband, Jeff Brunson in 2002.
Mrs. Brunson received her Bachelor's degree in English from Winthrop College in 1939 and her Master's degree from the University of South Carolina. She taught school in S.C. for thirty years, beginning her career in Lexington, SC, and ending it in Aiken, SC. Following her retirement, she continued working as a substitute teacher for an additional ten years. A longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church, she delighted in serving her Lord and her church. She volunteered faithfully in their office helping with weekly bulletins, and was active in senior adult ministries. She also served her community as a volunteer at Aiken Memorial Hospital and Hopeland Gardens.
Mrs. Brunson took great joy in time spent with her family, as well as neighbors, friends, and loved ones, all of whom will mourn her passing, yet celebrate her time with us on Earth.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Shadow Oaks Assisted Living Home for the care, concern, and love they have provided for the past three years.
Memorials may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 3100 Vaucluse Road, Aiken, SC 29801.
