AIKEN, SC - MRS. DEANNA M. TREMLIN, 74, of Aiken, South Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, with her husband and son Paul by her side. She was born on August 23, 1940 in Utica, NY, a daughter of the late Mathew and Carmela Germano Monaco. She graduated from T. R. Proctor High School and Utica College of Syracuse University, and also completed graduate work at SUNY Utica-Rome. On April 23, 1981 she was united in marriage with Robert Tremlin in Utica, NY, a mutually devoted union of 33 years. Deanna was employed at Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in Utica, and later worked for ten years in the law office of the late Stewart D. Pratt, Esq. After moving to Aiken, SC she worked for five years at Woodward/White as editor and researcher. Then she taught middle school language arts and health at Mead Hall Episcopal School in Aiken, a source of great enjoyment and satisfaction from the interaction with her students. Following retirement from Mead Hall, she accepted students on a private basis for tutoring. Surviving are her husband Robert and three loving sons and two daughters-in-law, Marshall Asselta, Sauquoit, NY, Christopher and Denise Asselta, Windermere, FL, and Paul and Krin Asselta, Corinth TX; her cherished grandchildren, Stephen and Victoria Asselta, Windermere, FL; two sisters and brother-in-law, Thomas and Marilyn Mariani, Frankfort, NY, and Carol Abrams, Utica, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her stepchildren, Robert and Rita Tremlin, North Ridgeville, OH and Susannah and Sean Hirt, Utica, NY; and step grandchildren, Joseph Tremlin, North Ridgeville, OH and Robert Hirt, Utica, NY; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, David and Harriet Flynn, Birmingham, MI, and Dr. George and Mary Kay Staley, Avon, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Deanna was an intelligent, articulate woman with a passion for reading. She remembered fondly family trips to Hinckley, NY and Ravena, NY. She will be dearly missed. The family will gather at Scala and Roefaro Funeral Home in Utica, NY for reflection and prayer on Saturday morning, October 11, 2014 beginning at 10 o’clock followed by her funeral service at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in New Forest Cemetery.
