Zelma Richardson Smith

AIKEN, SC – ZELMA RICHARDSON SMITH, 90, widow of Ray Boling Smith, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Taylor Wells and Rev. Paul Volpitto officiating. Interment will follow in the historic Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stan Rodgers, Randy Simmons, Chuck Jordan, Larry Willing, Brent Bennent and Ben Newman. A life-long resident of Aiken County, Zelma was a daughter of the late James Calvin Richardson, Sr. and Hannah Goodwin Richardson. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include a daughter, Ann S. (Mark) Humphreville; two sons, Larry (Claudia) Smith and Wayne (Nancy) Smith; four grandchildren, Lesley Griffin, Kelly (Kenny) Odom, Jody (Michelle) Smith, Todd (Jodi) Smith; four great grandchildren, Carver Lee Griffin, Ian Clay Griffin, Madelynn Grace Smith, and Whit Boling Smith. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by four sisters, Esther Richardson Hay, Elsie Richardson Britt, Dorothy Richardson Mulvihill, Helen Richardson Roberts; and four brothers, Frampton Richardson, James Calvin Richardson, Jr., Raymond Hightower Richardson and Lloyd George Richardson.
