Myrtle Burnette

AIKEN – Mrs. Myrtle Burgess Burnette, 88, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at First Baptist Church, Aiken, with the Reverend Dr. Jim Ford officiating. Inurnment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Mrs. Burnette was born in Aiken County, a daughter of the late Jessie V. and Lettie Boatwright Burgess. She had been a lifelong resident of Aiken, worked in the Aiken County Tax Office, and was a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Burnette Cobb, Atlanta, GA; grandson, Richard (Anne) Byrd; two sisters, Alice Burgess Miller, Chapin, SC, Hazel Burgess Pardue, Aiken; a brother, Edward “Ed” Bradley Burgess, Gilbert, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Burnette; a son, Bryson Burnette; sisters Bertie Burgess Wessinger, Trannie Burgess Brown, Pansy Burgess Zimmerman; a brother, Bill Burgess.
