Beverly Park Crawford

June 3, 1930 — October 29, 2014

NEW ELLENTON, SC - Beverly Crawford, 84, returned to her heavenly home on October 30, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Crawford was born to the late Robert and Leila Park and grew up in Columbia, SC, but called New Ellenton home for much of her life. She was a graduate of Dreher High School (1947). She, and the love of her life, W.E. (Gene) Crawford were blessed with a large and loving family. Beverly was a lifelong homemaker, where she and Gene raised four children with patience, discipline and humility. She enjoyed working in her yard, spending time with her great-grandchildren, camping, and trips to the beach with her family. Nannie, as she was known to her loved ones, was an animal lover and a champion of the underdog. She was kind, soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question, sing a song, or tell a story. Her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace and resting comfortably, dearly miss her. She is survived by her four children; James W. Crawford, Bonnie C. Whitson (David), Clifford W. Crawford (Tammy), all of New Ellenton and Beverly C. Bowers of Aiken; three siblings, R.E.L. “Bobby” Park Jr.(Marlene), J.E. “Joe” Park (Barbara), and Diane Strange; ten grandchildren, Tiffany White (Kenneth), Tavis Whitson (Miranda), Torie Kellems (Michael), Baron Bowers (Ericka), Brett Crawford (Melissa), Blake Bowers (Jessica), Brad Crawford (Keri), Trent Whitson (Holly), Amy Langley, Shawn Guess (Doreen), and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Tyler Whitson, Troy Crawford, and Melissa Guess. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver, Dianne Williams, her doctors, and the staff at Trinity Hospice Care. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 7 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating. Beverly will be laid to rest at Bethany Cemetery in Aiken, SC. Her grandsons will be pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta.
