James B. Hughes

IRMO - James B. Hughes, 68, of Columbia, South Carolina, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away October 16, 2008. Services will be held Sunday, October 19 at 2:00 PM at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Hughes was born in Loris, SC, and was the son of William H. Hughes and Mildred Hardee Hughes. He was the founding partner of Hughes, Sealey, Grant, & Associates, Certified Public Accountants, and assisted numerous clients in every manner imaginable. More importantly, his selfless acts of Christian service were humbly carried out in an anonymous nature. Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years , Joye Padgett Hughes; two daughters, Sabrina (John) Barr, Columbia, Darra (Skip) Irish, Columbia; a son, Gregory James (Stefanie) Hughes, Columbia; seven grandchildren, Morgan Barr, Austin James Irish, Emily Irish, Thomas Barr, Rebecca Grace Barr, Kate Hughes, James Davis Hughes; sister, Annette (Jim) Kirby, Columbia; Nephew Jay (Tyra) Kirby; Niece Courtney (Jared) Mobley; sisters by marriage Cassandra (Carl) Parton, Shirley (Raymond) Padgett; and a number of additional beloved nieces and nephews, all of which he cherished.
