AIKEN, SC – DUNCAN LAWRENCE COX, JR., 75, beloved husband, of Geraldine Utley Cox, died Wednesday, November 05, 2014 at his residence. A native of Silva, NC, Larry was a son of the late Duncan Lawrence, Sr. and Ann Gribble Cox. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, retiring after 20 years, and serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Larry loved being outdoors and fishing…catfishing was his specialty. He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 45 years, Geri, include two sons, Lawrence Cox, Sanford, NC, Michael Cox, Holden Beach, NC; a daughter, Suzy (John) Paschal, Sanford, NC; two step-sons, Clyde (Sharon) Miller, Jr., Mableton, GA, Barry (Amy) Miller, Aiken; a step-daughter, Sheree Lamb, Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Bryan Cox, Michelle Edwards, Chris Sloan, Justin Sloan, Hannah Sloan, Michael Cox, Jr., Phillip Cox, Barry Miller, Jr., Evan Miller, Brandon Miller and Brylee Miller; five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home and at other times at the residence. Graveside Funeral Services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, GA. The Rev. Steven Drawdy will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Miller, John Paschal, Chris Sloan, Justin Sloan, Brian Cox and David Boatwright.
