AIKEN - Mr. Phillip Gordon Brown, 62, beloved husband of Paula Huffman Brown, died suddenly at the Outer Banks, NC, Sunday, November 9, 2014.
Phillip was born in Raleigh, NC. He was a son of Homer Franklin Brown and Margaret Adelaide Smith Brown. He was a Grandson of William Henry and Margaret Alice Baugh Smith.
Phillip was born in Raleigh, NC in 1952 and early in life moved to Grifton. He attended Lenoir Community College. In 1972 he began working at the Cape Fear DuPont Plant, in Wilmington, NC, where he met his wife of 37 years, Paula.
In 1987 Phillip transferred to the Savannah River Site where he worked in Electronic Instrumentation and Safeguards and Security. Phillip retired in 2010 to enjoy a life of restoring cars and salt-water fishing. He was a member of the Aiken Horsepower Association. Phillip greatly enjoyed his fishing buddies, some of which he had fished with for over 35 years. In particular he cherish the friendships of the “Outlaw House” Gang.
Phillip was known and loved by all for his endearing charm and wit and could always be counted on to be the "life of the party"
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brothers, John Michael (Anita) Brown, Dunkirk, MD, James (Debra) William Brown, Youngsville, NC and many cherished nieces and nephews. Phillip was predeceased by his parents and sister Anne Brown McCutcheon.
Visitation will be held at 4:00 PM at Aiken's First Baptist Church followed by a memorial service at 5:00 PM Thursday, November 13, 2014 with the Rev. Dr. Fred W. Andrea, III officiating.
Services and interment in the Raleigh area are pending.
