AIKEN, SC Mrs. Barbara Brown Cheetham, 86, died Monday, October 20, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. The Reverend Ella H. Breckenridge and The Reverend Robert M. Hartley will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will then receive friends in the Cheetham Parlor in the Stevenson-McClelland building.

Mrs. Cheetham was born in Wilmington, DE, a daughter of the late Clarence Fayette and Norma Northrop Brown. She moved to Aiken in 1952. She was a homemaker and an artist, a founding member of the Aiken Artist Guild, a member of the S.C. Water Color Society, the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art. She was also an active member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, a member of the Altar Guild, and a Stephen Minister. Mrs. Cheetham’s artwork has been shown in many galleries in the CSRA, and her Stations of the Cross are hung at St. Thaddeus during Lent. Most important to Mrs. Cheetham was her faith and love of Jesus which were reflected in her love and care for her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy C. (Rev. Robert) Hartley, N. Augusta, a son, James L. (Kay) Cheetham, Mableton, GA; five grandchildren, Robert E. (Sabrina) Hartley, James P. (Caroline) Hartley, Joseph S. Cheetham, Marguerite E. Cheetham, Thelma K. Cheetham; great granddaughter, Katherine I. Hartley.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Joseph Larkin Eyre (Pete) Cheetham, Jr., preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given for the Glory of God to St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, 125 Pendleton St., Aiken, SC 29801.
