AIKEN – Ms. Beverly Phillips Belk, 79, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. David Cozad officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor.
Ms. Belk was born in Orangeburg, SC, a daughter of the late John Legree and Alta Unita Ussery Phillips. She was a resident of Aiken for 55 years, and was a case work assistant for S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation. She was a member of the Wise Outrageous Women Group, the Red Hat Society, a former Girl Scout Leader, was involved with Helping Hands, and was very active at First Presbyterian Church where she was a member.
Survivors include three daughters, Unita (Joseph) Akins, Murfreesboro, TN, Beth (Chris) Potter, Statesville, NC, Marjorie Nelle Belk, Aiken; a son, John (Renee) Belk, St. Louis, MO; three sisters, Shirley Emmons, Forked River, NJ, Peggy Dube, West Columbia, SC, Jewel Blume, Cloumbia, SC; two brothers, Johnny Phillips and Eddie Phillips of Columbia, SC.
