AIKEN, SC- EDNA CHAMBERS LONG, 88, beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Long, died Wednesday, December 03, 2014 at her residence in Aiken.
A native of Forsyth County, GA. Edna was the daughter of Ford W. and Elizabeth Wallace Chambers. She had lived in Aiken since 1988 after retiring from Sears in Charleston. Edna was a member of Aiken’s First Baptist Church. Her girls always felt they had the most wonderful Christian mother possible. She enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, sewing, cooking and was an avid reader. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah (James L.) Ellison of Hampton, GA and Pamela (Calvin) Richardson of Aiken, SC; nine grandchildren; James L. Ellison, Jr. (Barbara), Sonja (Dennis) Worth, Joseph (Dee Dee) Ellison, Tommy (Alysha) Richardson, Keith (Keisha) Walters, Robyn (Nick) Walker, Angela (Josh) Goebel, Kyle (Leslie) Walters, and Kristopher (Chien) Walters; nineteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon beginning at 1 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home followed by the Funeral Service at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Dr. Fred W. Andrea III will officiate. Interment will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock in Georgia Memorial Gardens, Marietta, GA.
