Aiken - Betty “Sunny” Wohlwend Shannon Weyant, 91, passed peacefully into eternity Wednesday, December 10, 2014.
Born in Akron, OH, Betty was the daughter of the late William C. and Mabel Lee Jones Wohlwend. She was a devoted mother of six children, had a successful career in asphalt sales, loved playing tennis, riding horses, modeling and volunteering for different charities. Betty was also a member of the The Junior League and the Hospital Auxiliary at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She had been a resident of Aiken for the past 6 years.
Betty is survived by her loving companion, whom she was so grateful for all of his love and care, Clay Kinney, Aiken; three daughters, Vaughn Allen (Mike) Packer, Aiken; Gayle Allen Lord, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Lynne (Tom) Blinco, Akron, OH; two sons, J. William (Linda) Allen, Carefree, AZ; Thomas R. (Dorothy) Allen, Cayce, SC, eleven grandchildren, Ashley (Christy) Heaton; Kevin (Filomena) Heaton; Kelli (Ken) Eubanks; Justin (Marissa) Lord; Kristine (Jericho) Hartley ; Vaughn Allen; Lindsey (Beau) Milner; Jordan Allen; Tyler Allen; Katie and Drew Blinco; and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her daughter Janet Allen.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Road, Aiken, SC 29801.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 17th, at Cumberland Village main lobby at 4:00pm. Inurnment will be held at Historic Bethany Cemetery Columbarium.
