Anne Butler Evans

AIKEN, SC – ANNE BUTLER EVANS, 92, widow of Robert Herron Evans, Jr., died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center. A native of Bradford, MA, Mrs. Evans was a daughter of the late Enoch Howard and Mary Lockwood Butler. She was a longtime member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church and held a life membership in the Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the D.A.R. and was a former regent of the Ft. San Nicholas Chapter in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Hugenot Society and the Colonial Dames. Survivors include a son, Howard H. (Sandy) Evans, Aiken, SC, a daughter, Sula Evans (Jim) Tucker, Melborne, FL, a daughter-in-law, Nellie Arrington , Ellicott City, MD, five grandchildren, Steven I. Tucker, Gregory H. Evans, Robert H. Evans III, Elyse Evans Kircher and Meredith Jeanne Evans, and six great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Anne Tucker, Maxwell Robert Tucker, Robert David Evans, Paul Gregory Evans, John Herron Evans and Anne Catherine Evans. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Stacy Evans. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM from the graveside in Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL with The Rev. David Preston officiating. A memorial service will be held in Aiken at a later date.
